Message from the President
September 2022
From Rick Schill - President CVOTC
Fall is upon us. Considered by some to be the very best weather for Observed
Trials. CVOTC takes full advantage of the seasonal opportunity. Happening
this fall:
Jim Ellis’ famed Rust Bucket vintage series continues. Be at Bunn on
October 9th to ride, spectate or photograph. Hang with your riding
buddies!Gary Heyer (and Mark Barnette) are preparing for an October 23rd event
at Lawrenceville, VA. Workday Saturday October 15th. They will be
blowing out sections, trimming saplings within sections, trimmings the
loop of hanging Limbs and face slappers. Sections will be tagged and
ribboned, however we might have to repair/ replace ribbon due to
running deer.Kenny Gwyn is working with folks at Brushy Mountain in western NC. A
2-day trials is being planned and it fits into an open CVOTC weekend.
Definitely caught us by surprise albeit a pleasant surprise. The dates are
November 5 and 6. An update from Kenny G is on CVOTC Facebook.Berndie Lunsford has been working hard to prepare for a reintroduction
of a sweet trials location in Blairs, VA known as Lawless Creek. The date
is November 13th. Workday not required. Do not miss the season closing
event; it’ll be a good one for sure. This time of year, I’m always thinking about Season Championship
Awards. Got ideas? Want to help with making it happen, let me know.
To qualify for a Season Championship, you’ll need to have work-day
credit. Check the updated Season Championship standings on our
website to make sure you’ve been credited. There will even be
opportunities during the off-season: Ed Beehler has mentioned Madison
Heights, VA needing off-season work. We’ll get dates published when we
know what Ed is planning. Questions or comments? Use the website
Contact us on the bottom of the Home page.Stu Bishop, Ellis Daw, senior club officials from STRA and I met in
Kairos, VA to scout and discuss the possibility of an STRA/CVOTC Joint
Meet in 2023. We agreed in principle we can do it; lots of details to be
worked out of course however we agreed to put in the time and effort to
develop the concept. A June 2023 2-day event is current thinking. This can be epic! The potential for a 2024 NATC National event is part of thelong-range concept for Kairos.
